What defines a touring board?

Touring boards are longer (often 12'6") with a pointed nose that cuts through the water. That helps them hold their line and glide further with every stroke. They stay stable enough for improving beginners, but reward you with speed and efficiency as your technique develops.

Who is a touring SUP for?

A touring board is perfect if you love longer trips, want to build fitness or explore your surroundings. If you've outgrown your first all-round board, touring is the logical next step. Our review pages compare the models on speed, stability and capacity.

What to take on tour

For longer trips a board with attachment points and a bungee cargo net is handy: that's where you secure a dry bag, water and a windproof jacket. Plan your route, check the weather and always bring a leash and buoyancy aid. With an efficiently gliding touring board you cover bigger distances without it becoming hard work.
